About Peter “Tres”

Peter J. “Tres” Gulden III is a partner at Faiella & Gulden, P.A. He’s a third-generation lawyer who joined his mother Elizabeth Hawthorne Faiella’s practice in 2004, becoming a partner in 2008. Before receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Vanderbilt University Law School, Mr. Gulden earned a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from the Divinity School at Duke University. This unique background, combined with the fact that his father was a doctor of internal medicine, has shaped Peter’s perspective on medical ethics and the need to hold medical providers and facilities accountable. “Our clients often tell us that they don’t want what happened to them happening to anyone else. And so if we can change one hospital policy, sharpen one rule of patient care, or simply ensure that basic standards of practice are followed, then our work makes all patients safer,” Peter told Orlando Style magazine in a 2014 profile.

Peter Gulden has won multiple verdicts and settlements of $1 million or more, and has honed his legal skills under the tutelage of his mother, Elizabeth, who’s been practicing law for more than four decades. Together, they authored “Battling Ageism in Cancer Negligence Cases,” which was featured in Trial Magazine in 2007.

Elizabeth has represented plaintiffs in numerous jury trials. These cases involved claims of medical negligence, automobile accidents, premises liability, defamation, amusement park device failures, negligent supervision in amusement parks, assault and battery, paternity, excessive force by police officers, fraud, malicious prosecution, tortious interference with business relations, intentional infliction of emotional distress, constitutional deprivation of due process by a private corporation, defective road maintenance, and more.

Throughout her distinguished 40-year career, Ms. Faiella has won multiple verdicts and settlements of $1 million or higher, but has also devoted her time to her fellow professionals, teaching and lecturing on legal topics nearly 60 times, and serving on the Florida Bar Board of Civil Trial Certification Committee. She also wrote Women Trial Lawyers: How They Succeed in Practice and in the Courtroom, Chapter 4 “Voir Dire in the Medical Negligence Case: Key Factors in Choosing and Conditioning Jurors” in 1978, and co-authored “Battling Ageism in Cancer Negligence Cases” for Trial Magazine in 2007. Elizabeth now devotes her practice entirely to medical malpractice claims, because she passionately believes that medical care should improve health, not hinder it.

The AV Rating is the highest possible rating given by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review for a lawyer and is established wholly on a peer-review basis. The AV Preeminent designation signifies that attorneys have been rated by Judges and fellow attorneys as having the highest possible rating for legal abilities and ethical standards.

In addition to Florida, Mr. Gulden is also licensed to practice in the District of Columbia. The firm has also handled claims in North Carolina and Tennessee.

Peter is married to fellow attorney Rebecca E. Gulden.
